USDC · Current availability
Checkout USDC is planned, not live.
Payamatik currently accepts cards through Stripe Checkout. Hosted USDC stays disabled until Stripe Accounts v2 exposes an authoritative capability that Payamatik can verify for each merchant.
Two ways to take crypto
Checkout USDC and direct USDC
USDC at checkout — not available yet
The intent: buyers pick “Crypto” next to “Card,” they pay USDC, Stripe converts, and your ledger records dollars — no blockchain knowledge required, for you or your accountant.
Today it is switched off. Every merchant is now their own Stripe merchant of record, and Stripe does not yet expose a way for us to confirm that an individual account may accept stablecoins. Rather than offer a payment method that might fail at checkout, we exclude it. Card payments are unaffected.
Disabled pending Stripe support · cards unaffected
Direct wallet-to-wallet — for the crypto-native
On personal pay pages, link your own USDC wallet address and your page shows a scan-to-pay code. Senders pay you on-chain, wallet to wallet, in seconds for pennies — and it never routes through Payamatik at all.
Network fees only · you keep USDC · off-platform, no refunds
Straight answers
What we will and won't do with crypto
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| Does Payamatik ever hold my crypto? | No. If checkout USDC becomes available, Stripe would convert it and settle dollars to your bank. Direct USDC goes from the sender's wallet to yours. |
| Do I need a wallet to accept USDC? | Checkout USDC is not currently available. A wallet is required only for the optional direct transfer feature. |
| Can my balance "go down" with the market? | For any future hosted checkout, Stripe would convert at payment time and the ledger would remain in dollars. Direct transfers remain in your own wallet. |
| Will you offer wallets or balances later? | Not unless it can be done without us taking custody. Holding customer funds is a responsibility we deliberately don't take. |
